WHAT IS A CUSTOM BREAST PROSTHESIS?
A custom breast prosthesis is exclusively personal to you and your body. Each custom breast prosthesis is made to fit like a jigsaw piece to the post surgery site. Enabling the most intimate and comfortable fit.
HOW DOES IT WORK & WHAT IS INVOLVED?
Because the custom breast prosthesis is made and manufactured to meet your individual needs, a 3-step process has been developed to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for all ladies of varying shapes and sizes.
The pre-scanning consultation gives opportunity for both the breast care nurse (or fitter) to meet with their lady and talk through the whole custom breast prosthesis process.
Ladies can expect to receive a full assessment of the post surgery site including specific bra and breast form fit characteristics to ensure the prosthesis will fit like a puzzle piece to the unique chest wall contours.
At this stage of the process, ladies will be presented with colours that best match their skin tone and nipple option.
Personal Scan Session
The personal scan session is where the breast care nurse (fitter) will obtain all of the vital information by applying a series of removable stickers to the torso. A series of reference images are taken followed by the scanning process using a state of the art Ipad-based 3D scanner.
The scanning process should take no longer than one hour. Following which, all files will be sent securely to our team of dedicated breast form designers who use CAD-based, reverse engineering to create a custom breast prosthesis with accuracy, detail and the desired colour specifications.
Once the custom breast prosthesis has been delivered to the clinic, the breast care nurse or fitter will fit this to the unique contours of the chest wall and talk through the instructions of care.
“The prosthesis contours in the right spots against my chest wall. It’s like a puzzle piece, it just fits perfectly.”
